 Deborah began painting after retiring from a 20-year military career. She's exhibited paintings in over 50 group and solo shows across New Mexico during the past 14 years; Albuquerque, Alamogordo, Tularosa, Cloudcroft, Roswell, Socorro, Deming and Las Cruces. Deborah studied abstract and color theory in great depth for many years. She was fortunate to have outstanding mentors along the way. In addition to acrylic paint, she occasionally adds mixed media onto the canvas, applying shimmery and metallic fabrics or papers to enhance her objective. "I paint because I love the process, from the big empty canvas all the way to the finished piece. I'm fascinated by abstract techniques and methods which demand problem-solving along with intuitive insight". "There is nothing more exciting than standing in front of a 3-foot blank canvas armed with nothing more than a brush and a tube of paint".  In addition to her artistic endeavors, Deborah is a Disaster Action Team volunteer with the American Red Cross.
